Yet That Time Again! The much anticipated Machakos Film Festival occured and it was between the 13th and 24th of December 2018.
The event was held at the People's Park in Machakos and it, together with other film activities in the region, have been dubbed locally as Machawood.
Camp Mulla! The Machakos Film Festival is becoming lucrative, with more than Ksh 5 million total, in award money.
It is a KIKAOO Awards initiative and is hosted by Machakos County government.
The event is all about short films and is held annually.
And the Winner is...Drumroll... The film that won the overall award, the "Best Film" award for 2018, was titled "Wakamba Forever" and it also won "Best Editing" award by Alex "Warle" Maina and "Best Costumes" award by Diang'a Ochino.
Alfred Munya who starred in "Wakamba Forever" won the award for "Best Actor".
The award for best Actress went to Mwajuma Bahati Belle for her role in the film "What's On Your Mind?".
The First Cut Is the Deepest! Harris Thuo Mwangi and members of Tribe Africa Films can be seen here in the photo receiving a cheque from the Machakos governer's wife Mrs. Mutua.
This was at the inaugural Machakos Film Festival of 2015 and they were awarded for their film "Mwikali" which was amongst the best presentations at the event.
Chaching $$$ The event has been growing year by year and the overall winner gets to pocket a whooping Ksh 1.2 million!
We hope it will reach international status to rival the likes of Cannes Film Festival coz these dreams be valid child!
