Gidi Gidi on the other hand was wondering, "Whaaat just happened there?" It's a joke, birthday dude, come on smile a little!
4 Kellywood Celebrities Fame and Fortune Causing Careers Gidi Gidi is a Kellywood celebrity. He is a radio host with Radio Jambo Kenya on the show Gidi Na Ghost Asubuhi. Gidi Gidi is also a celebrity musician. He shot to fame in the late nineties when, together with Maji Maji, they produced the hit single called "Ting Badi Malo." This song was such a huge hit at the time and it put these underdog musicians on the map. They followed this hit a few years later with another one called "Unbwogable" released circa 2002 and which was ripped off or used by the then politicians, depending on whether they got paid appropriately or not, because politics can be a dirty game sometimes. The song "Unbwogable" was used by the then political party called National Rainbow Coalition NARC, to campaign and also as the celebratory anthem after winning the general elections of 2002 when they dethroned the incumbent ruling party called KANU. All the same we heard that Gidi Gidi and Maji Maji were paid handsomely by NARC unless otherwise stated and Gidi Gidi here can clear the air about that just incase. With these two hit songs and a couple of collabos, like "Atoti" with Wicky Mosh, these guys were set to be the next big thing in Africa after appearing to have conquered the Kellywood scene. They did a song that was recorded by Gallo Records called "Many Faces" that was kind of a hit, given that it was meant to capture the African audience as a whole. It did not do as well at this African level as their first two hits had done at the Kellywood level. We think that they should have stuck with the energy of the hip hop way that they had done "Ting Badi Malo" and "Unbwogable" with and they should have mixed English with a bit of Kellywood sheng and vernacular. This is what they should have presented to Africa, like the way Nigerian artists have mixed English with a little bit of their Naija culture. Them trying to make a shift into R and B with this song, a genre they had not dabble into before, could have cost them, given that the deal with Gallo Records could have been a one time only done and dusted kinda deal. But as they say, hindsight is twenty tewnty anyway. Apparently their star burnt too brightly, too fast and after this Gallo Recording deal, these guys went completely off the grid to date, atleast musically speaking. Churchill is also a Kellywood celebrity and a big one at that. He is the pioneering comedian on the long running number one show in Kellywood, called the Churchill Show. It has been featured on CNN and in other international media. This show has spawned a completely new industry in the comedic world of Kellywood. It has redefined what stand up comedy is in Kellywood, if at all there was any to begin with in the first place. Many current standup comedians in the industry owe the presence of these respective careers to this guy right here, one Mr. Daniel Ndambuki, whom we believe deserves a standing ovation and he should be knighted by the queen to Sir. Daniel Ndambuki, cheers to that!
